I've seen many positive mentions of Toptal on the web, so you're my first attempt at obtaining some contract work as a freelancer.  I believe you will also be my last.  Joining the Toptal Web programmers community will provide the challenging and engaging projects I crave to code...

I'm currently employed as a Systems Engineer and I love it, but I love programming so much that I want to break out of the box and start freelancing.

I don't want to compete with the get-the-cheapest-coder-you-can web sites.  I want quality work so I can show off my skill as a quality Software Engineer.

And, I love to write good code.  If it looks horrible, is not intuitive, breaks and/or doesn't work well; that's not good code.

I take pride in my work and love to write applications, tools, workflows, etc., that make jobs easier for people so they can focus on the stuff that humans must do and leave the mundane stuff to the code.

I've recently been complimented by someone I consider a "software guru".  He paid me the highest compliment I can imagine.  He said I was an exceptional programmer and he was amazed at how fast I picked up Medical Logic Modules programming.  From him, that was like saying I'm a programming god.

I began programming back in 1991 when I picked up a book on programming with Q-Basic and started writing code for my PC just for fun.

In 1993 I went to a local college to learn additional programming languages and fell in love with C! My Advanced C instructor was so impressed with my ability and aptitude for writing code that he invited me to sit in on his C++ class for free. I wrote a BBS door game called, “Pike Place”, and started writing utilities for my employers, to create tools to make our jobs easier and more efficient.

I am a natural at programming, and I love writing code.  I even do it for fun when I'm not working.

So, Toptal is my gateway into the universe of freelance coding where I can create amazing things for amazing customers and enjoy every minute of it!
